Key Purpose of Job:

Working in partnership with the Brand Director and their team to deliver the strategic brand plans. The Business Partner will use insights to support and advise strategic and operational decision-making, to drive better business performance across the division. The purpose of the Finance Business Partner is to support the business to raise standards in key decision areas, taking a forward-looking and commercial view supported by a strong financial / commercial toolkit and the ability to work collaboratively across the business, to help articulate different options and influence decisions.

The Finance Business Partner brings both technical expertise and a strong ability to influence and negotiate. The Finance Business Partner will be naturally inquisitive with a desire to understand a broad range of commercial issues, bringing these macro factors to life for their customers and explaining the relevant context. In addition to strong influencing and negotiating skills, the ability to listen, interpret, and challenge are all vital requirements for the role.



  • Take the financial lead in the development of the SBP and brand planning & initiatives. Including the appraisal of long term opportunities in channels/regions, product, marketing & investments.
  • Regular review of existing investment areas, working with the Divisional Finance Team, develop plans for improvement where required.
  • Own the brand P&L in conjunction with the management accounting team.
  • Provide financial insight to the brand, using internal and external sources.
  • Support the development and delivery of the Brand OGSM.
  • Supports the Brand Director and teams in the delivery of the brand plan, including subsidiaries
  • Investment Appraisal i.e. including CAPEX & ROI for Marketing spend
  • Agree the seasonal product targets from division with the product team aligned to the SBP.
  • Understand and interpret monthly brand performance management and KPIs to key stakeholders.
  • Collate and manage the brand risks and opportunities, suggesting action required to achieve targets.
  • Tracking of OGSM and highlight action required to ensure they are achieved.
  • Regular review of the performance of the brand initiatives and take action when required.
  • Modelling of range performance and scenarios/sensitivities (including FX, market/category mix, volume fluctuations), to understand and communicate deliverable ranges of performance, recommended actions to deliver/mitigate as appropriate.
  • Liaise with divisional / group finance to ensure a joined-up approach to planning and delivery of results ensuring efficiency across the division. 


Needs to have:

  • Accountancy Qualifications (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA)
  • Experience in developing business strategy and financial modelling
  • Successfully demonstrated experience of Business Partnering at a senior level
  • Experience in interpreting monthly reporting to a high standard, including the ability to understand key information which drives business performance and interpret this to senior decision makers influencing their decisions to improve results
  • Previous experience of P&L ownership and planning
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail to ensure a very high standard of information integrity
  • Solid, well-rounded understanding of the key business drivers; you are a strategic and commercial thinker and have demonstrated a desire to translate business strategy into finance strategy
  • Worked to build networks outside the business and actively seek to bring the outside in
  • Willing to challenge and you don’t accept status-quo, which means sometimes you take unpopular decisions with the business’ best interests in mind
  • Great at stakeholder management; you build strong relationships and have a collaborative approach
  • Strong communication; you communicate well with all levels of the business and are able to simplify and clearly present financial information to customers and colleagues
