Key Purpose of Job


The Global Logistics Director is an integral member of the Supply Chain Executive team and will report into the Global Supply Chain Director. This role will be the link between internal and external sources of supply, local and global operations and customers. This role is responsible for defining and executing the strategic direction of the Logistics function by defining and embedding an optimised customer-centric approach to all parts of the global network. This role operates within a matrix organization so as well as directly determining the vision and direction of the function, they are required to influence and negotiate with other parts of the business to adopt and support logistics recommendations. 


The Global Logistics Director will have a global remit and will be expected to spend time across our network including (but not limited to) UK Offices in Sunderland Nottingham and London, our Distribution centres in Blackburn and Wakefield and at our Asia Headquarters based in Hong Kong. We are open to exploring any of our UK sites as the roles primary location.



  • Leading a review to re-define & deliver a global solution and operating model that will provide optimal logistics support to the brands, ensuring fit for current & future purpose.
  • Partnering with the GSC Executive Team to deliver the strategic vision, P&L and overall operation of the Logistics function.
  • With a change mindset, drive continuous improvements to day-to-day operations, and identify opportunities to improve margin and volume.
  • Review systems, partners and processes to ensure relevance, accuracy and efficiency, as well as assessing impact on the business.
  • Work with global and regional logistics teams to Identify and establish best practice for each of the core logistics functions encompassing - warehouse, transport, customs management and international logistics
  • Develop selection and appointment procedures and establish contracts with 3PLs which can be used by the business to warehouse, transport and import and export materials.   
  • Measure the effectiveness of the logistics function through a set of KPIs that drive continuous improvement and value into the business.
  • Ensure the delivery of key global projects to support the Active & Footwear Division Supply Chains teams.
  • Represent and contribute on behalf of the logistics function when the organization engages in new projects, business ventures or seeks to expand into emerging and new markets as well as key initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable government and trade regulations & restrictions globally.
  • Provide effective and inspiring leadership to a global logistics team and focus on developing talent and capability within the Logistics function.

                         What you need to have

  • Significant experience in logistics for a global company with complex distribution processes and long lead times.
  • Excellent knowledge of the logistics environment, encompassing global trade compliance, shipping and forwarding.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability including proven influencing skills and the ability to work with all kinds of people.
  • Ability to work independently, be a credible decision maker and a highly competent problem solver.
  • Significant leadership experience at a senior level, with the ability to nurture and manage teams.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to ensure not only that the best deals are obtained but that they are fully implemented and are continuously improved and evolved.
  • Strong cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • The ability to balance operational and strategic activities.
  • Experience in SAP
