    Key Purpose of Job:

    • To act as a strategic partner to an Exec Member or Exec-1 within Functions/Brands/Regions.  This may be within several smaller functions or one defined area.
    • To provide advice to the Function/ Brands/ Regions leadership team (Exec-2/-3) in location, to enable the delivery of the business plans whilst creating consistency and the right people experience
    • To work closely with the senior (exec-2) team in location to create an open dialogue and ability to challenge
    • Support the delivery of the HR strategy within the Function/ Brands/ Region
    • Handle ER situations in a way that supports the Pentland values and commercial requirements 
    • To effectively identify trends/risks and escalate in a timely way
    • Support the delivery of ad hoc people projects for the Function/ Brands/ Regions
    • Support the delivery of annual HR processes 

    Responsibilities:

    HR plan

    • Support the delivery of the people plan for the Function/Brands/Regions that includes development and resourcing plan and is aligned to the business plan
    • Works with the Senior Business Partner/ Business Partner to deliver the talent management approach for roles at Exec -2 and below, including involvement in selection processes and development conversations
    • Supports the implementation of a functional capability frameworks where relevant.
    • Provides support for restructuring projects if required 
    • Inputs in to and uses HR metrics to deliver the workforce plan

    Advisory support and guidance

    • Act as a coach/advisor and provide guidance to the Exec and Exec-1 leadership team
    • Participate in the teams strategic planning process for defined function/area, ensuring that people impacts are understood and integrated in to the plan
    • Lead HR contact for the Function/Brands/Regions operational HR issues.
    • Provides guidance to the Exec-2 and below on HR matters 
    • Works with the Senior Business Partner/ Business Partner to effectively implement HR initiatives, ensuring integration in the annual business plan
    • Support management in leading effectively through change.
    • Effectively identify and escalate risks in a timely manner
    • Encourage a culture of cross-functional and cross-brand knowledge sharing.
    • Create a shared culture that crosses functional and brand boundaries. 

    Delivery of HR processes

    • Works with the Senior Business Partner/ Business Partner to successfully deliver the annual HR processes, including:  PDR calibration, Annual salary review, Employee survey, Annual awards
    • Handle sensitive ER situations and policy/ process enquiries
    • Manages role redundancy situations, professionally and sensitively.
    • Ensure the business is compliant on core employment legislation and every manager is fully informed and consistent in their application of key people management practices

    Ad hoc projects

    • Works with the Senior Business Partner/ Business Partner to implement ad hoc projects as required by the Function/ Brands/ Regions or HR Function
    • Act as D & I champion within the Function/ Brands/ Regions, introducing and maintaining initiatives that create an environment that attracts and retains a varied talent pool 

    Relationships

    • Work with Exec-2 and below to provide HR advice 
    • Partner with central HR teams, including People Development, Talent Acquisition, Reward, Payroll and HRIS to provide the best HR solutions to a wide variety of situations
    • Working with Centres of Expertise and HR Systems, accountable for people insights reporting, proactively identifying themes and associated actions from data to inform the HR strategy
    • Works with the Business Partnering team to manage resources and implement initiatives in a consistent way

     

     

     What you need to have

    Essential

    • CIPD qualified.
    • HR generalist experience in a commercial environment, with a focus on change projects and employee engagement. 
    • Involvement in complex transformational change.
    • Excellent stakeholder management experience in a complex matrix organisation.
    • Strong networking and relationship skills.
    • Excellent organisational skills, working to tight timescales and delivering quality outcomes.
    • Strong employment law expertise with the ability to apply this to a range of situations with a flexible, commercial and pragmatic approach.
    • A pragmatic approach to problem solving.
    • Behaviours that align to Pentland values.
    • A high level of integrity, applying discretion with sensitive/confidential information.
