    As IT Technical Services Manager you will work closely with the wider IT team and the business to understand their requirements: You will be accountable for the technical delivery of solutions and improvements across a wide range of technologies to enable our transformation and support operational excellence. The successful candidate will be passionate about people management and will have the ability to build and motivate large teams. You will build and manage solutions with the customer at the heart of our thinking and with usability a key measure of success.


     


    You will:



    • Lead the technical service team with responsibility for overseeing the management of all infrastructure and related applications/technologies throughout the service and development lifecycle.

    • You will need to be able to operate both at a tactical and strategic level and ensure we are thinking innovatively and in line with appropriate and proportionate industry best practise.

    • Manage and develop a team of multi-disciplined technology experts at all levels of seniority.

    • Utilise the in-house architecture competency to its greatest potential to align with technical and enterprise architecture.

    • Develop global solutions in line with the ambitions of the organisation.

    • Define and take ownership of a technology roadmap for the core technologies you aim to be responsible for.

    • Effectively communicate and plan for the roadmap execution with alignment throughout all teams within IT.

    • Develop, document, implement and measure appropriate processes and policies to manage our technology stack.

    • Build, develop, document, implement and measure controls to ensure a reliable and robust support delivery (2nd and 3rd line).

    • Work closely with the Business Solution and Solution Delivery teams in Pentland IT, understanding the organisational roadmap and pre-empting solutions to help support projects and initiatives.

    • Build strong relationships throughout the organisation to make sure that the technology the organisation adopts is aligned to their needs.

    • Take responsibility for budgeting, estimating, planning and objective setting for Technical Services.

    • Take responsibility for vendor management and contract negotiation and renewal where appropriate, always seeking the best value for Pentland.

    • Take responsibility and accountability for technical design and engineering across Infrastructure Services.

    • Assist in the evaluation of new projects prior to the approval of projects for implementation into the IT operations environment.

    • Monitor and escalate the risks and operations associated with information protection and disaster recovery for critical IT systems.




     

     










    What you need to have  



    • Experience in managing a large-scale high availability environment, coupled with extensive outsource / vendor relationship experience.

    • Extensive experience in all phases of Data Centre operations, outsource management, installation/integration and maintenance of systems.

    • Extensive experience to include infrastructure services, information protection, network security procedures.

    • Demonstrate an ability to work creatively and analytically in meeting customer needs.

    • Strong analytical ability, acute business judgment and decision making.

    • Demonstrable experience of managing and delivering large-scale enterprise IT projects.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including group leadership and executive presentations.

    • Ready to be mobile and travel to client locations as needed.

    • Proven leadership skills, with a passion to guide team to achieve their goals and objectives, leading by example to promote positive behaviours.

    • Commercially astute with strong focus on value-driven solutions.


     


    Hands On technical experience of the following desirable:



    • Virtualisation technology

    • 3+ Years Hands on Experience of cloud technologies, migrations and operations. Cloud Platforms such as O365, Azure and/or AWS an advantage

    • Microsoft Server 2008-2016

    • Microsoft Core Technology AD/DHCP/DNS

    • Microsoft Intune, Microsoft SCCM[PD1] 

    • SaaS Solutions


     


    Good Understanding of the following is desireable:



    • Networking Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto and HP

    • WAN Connectivity MPLS, VPN’s

    • Red Hat Linux

    • Communications – E.G. Telephony Cisco, Skype for Business

    • SQL 2008-2014

    • PowerShell

    • SharePoint

    • ITIL Process’s
