The role you’d play:
+ With support from the Head of External Communications, develop the annual Pentland Brands media relations plan and schedule, aligned to the overall external communications strategy and plans.
+ Work closely with the Communications team to ensure external and internal communications plans and activities are aligned.
+ Manage day-to-day media enquiries or escalate as required
+ Proactively seek out and pitch stories and interviews to target B2B media
+ Identify media opportunities, that add value to the business, and pitch ideas / proposals to the business
+ Develop and manage online media database contact lists
+ Monitor, measure and report media coverage
+ Monitor the media relations email inbox daily and ensure appropriate responses are shared in a timely manner
+ Write and distribute Pentland Brands press releases, press packs, biographies and company profiles
+ Write media interview briefs and support senior management in preparing for, and during, media interviews
+ Source and write news stories, features and interviews for distribution across Pentland Brands internal and external channels
+ Develop a library of films and images suitable for media
+ Manage and keep updated the Pentland Brands external presentations and tools
External stakeholders / influencers
+ Promote Pentland Brands relationship and activities with key external stakeholders / influencers (online and offline)
+ Support the business in developing engaging partner and retail customer communications
Events & awards
+ Manage, co-ordinate and promote VIP / media visits and / or press days
+ Develop and manage the speaker and awards schedules (external)
+ Co-ordinate the media training schedule
+ Organise photo-shoots and filming, as required
+ Write creative briefs and work with the in-house creative agency to deliver them brilliantly
+ Create and collate post-event analytics, surveys and reports
+ Upload content onto Pentland.com and social media channels, as required
What you need to have:
+ Previous industry experience (in-house press office or PR agency)
+ Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
+ CIPR membership and/or qualifications an advantage
+ Media relations experience, and a strong media contact book, is essential
+ Experience of working in or with a fast-paced corporate international business(es)
+ Strong understanding of the news agenda, what journalists need and what makes a compelling story
+ Good understanding of online and social media channels
+ Good understanding of how to promote influencer relationships and activities
+ Experience of creating compelling stories and narratives in a commercial environment
+ Excellent writing, planning and organisational skills
+ Excellent proof-reading skills, a strong eye for detail is essential
+ Strong communications and influencing skills
+ An understanding of human behaviour and the impact of good communication
+ Experience of managing media relations around acquisitions and divestments an advantage
