    There’s two big parts to the role you’ll play:


    Change communication: strategy, planning and delivery

    • With support from the Head of Internal Communications, create engagement strategies and plans to support the delivery of change and transformation projects
    • Work with our Programme Management Office (PMO) and senior leaders to ensure the successful delivery of business change communications
    • Brief the Head of External communications on all relevant change communications projects to ensure messaging and activities are aligned with external communications plans, messages and activities
    • Focus on the people side of change to help embed cultural and behavioral change at Pentland
    • Provide advice to project teams about the timing of change initiatives to ensure coordination with other communication activities
    • Develop the change story for each project and ensure that this forms part of our overall narrative
    • Support and upskill senior leaders to lead and implement change communications
    • Define and execute innovative engagement activities to support the delivery of change e.g. immersive experiences, events and tools
    • Implement a best practice approach to change management at Pentland – building on our Pentland Playbook approach
    • Work effectively with other HR colleagues to ensure an honest, transparent, supportive approach to changes that impact people at Pentland
    • Work with third parties, where appropriate, to manage internal communications that relate to acquisitions and divestment activity
    • Evaluate and measure the success of change communication activities


    Transforming our channels: everyone, everywhere accessing our intranet

    • We have ambitious plans to transform our internal communications, so we can help to support the growth of the business
    • In 2019 that involves a completely refreshed intranet platform that is accessible to everyone, everywhere
    • Lead and bring together a project team of key people across Pentland to support this important piece of work and make sure that our intranet is a key business tool
    • Get to know how different areas of the business work and how the intranet needs to be developed to meet their needs
    • Carry out research to understand how to make the most effective use of internal digital channels to allow the business to communicate key strategic messages in the most effective way
    • Shape and manage the development of the intranet in an agile way, working with internal content owners, IT, Pentland Creative Agency and development teams in a collaborative way to ensure improvements are delivered on time



     The must haves:

    • A hands-on communication and change manager with a proven experience in change/project communications
    • Good understanding of change management issues – such as stakeholder management and adoption
    • Understanding of change and communication trends, best practice and the impact of good communications on human behaviour
    • Experience of creating compelling stories and narratives in a fast paced, commercial environment
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – able to influence senior stakeholders
    • Able to give strategic communications advice and solve complex challenges
    • Able to develop and deliver communications in a range of media, including verbal, digital and written
    • Able to identify and bring in external communication team members at the right time to support effective management of external comms and reputational issues
    • Excellent writing, planning and organisational skills
    • Excellent proof-reading skills and a strong eye for detail



    • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
    • Experience of working in a fast-paced corporate international business(es)
    • Able to train and coach other to upskill them in change communications
    • Experience managing communications around acquisitions and divestments an advantage
